Situated in the region of Andalucia, the Costa Del Sol stretches 150km from Gibraltar in the West, to Nerja in the East.
The area boasts over 320 days of sun each year,and this combined with the mild winters (temperatures rarely dip below 16 degrees C even in January) make it an ideal destination for sun starved Northern Europeans.
It is an area of great diversity, with something to offer everyone,and boasts a wide variety of cities, coastal resorts and countryside. Whether you prefer the bright lights and jet setting style of Marbella and Puerto Banus,or the unspoiled countryside dotted with the many Pueblos Blancos (White Villages), you will be sure to find an area to suit you.
The Costa Del Sol has numerous beautifully kept beaches,stretching right along its length, where you can simply laze away the days, enjoying the beautiful weather, or for the more adventurous there is paragluiding, ballooning, potholing, diving, windsurfing, and off road trails through the mountains.
In addition to these activities there are in excess of 90 golf courses peppered along the Costa Del Sol and in 1997 the prestigious Ryder Cup competition was held at Valderrama, surely a testament to the quality of courses on offer.
Located between the regions of Andalucia, Castile-La-Mancha and Valencia, the Costa Calida sits in the South East corner of Spain.
The Murcia region enjoys a Mediterranean, subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters. In general, rain is scarce, (with any rainfall usually confined to the months of April and October) and the summer period is basically dry and sunny.
Murcia has over 170km of coastline, consisting of coves and small beaches, rocky shores and craggy cliffs.
There is a coastal land strip called La Manga, which all but closes off the Mar Menor lagoon from the Mediterranean, creating the largest salt water lake in Europe. This area is a haven for watersports, and the water temperature can reach 30Cin August.
Further inland the area is home to numerous cities and towns of architectural and historical significance, for example the Regions Capital Murcia, on the banks of the Segura river, contains many magnificent examples of baroque architecture. Cartagena, a busy Mediterranean port with over 2500 years of history, Lorca,the town of a hundred coats of arms, and Caravaca, the Holy Town.
